March is Endometriosis Awareness Month

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month

1 in 10 women in New Zealand experience Endometriosis.

If you’re wondering why a whole month has been dedicated to endometriosis, it’s for good reason. It’s an incredibly challenging, and all-too-common disease.

It is also known to be one of the most undiagnosed conditions for women.

So, what is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a whole body inflammatory disease, where tissue similar to the tissue that lines the uterus (endometrium) grows outside of the uterus.

This tissue is most commonly found in the pelvic region, and often on the pelvic ligaments, ovaries and bowel, which can lead to severe pain and inflammation.

How can you support endo?

Alongside seeking support from your medical professional, at the BePure clinic we’re incredibly passionate and experienced in supporting and managing endometriosis with tweaks to your diet, lifestyle and extra nutritional support.

Because endometriosis is primarily an inflammatory disease, all recommendations work to reduce inflammation in the body, soothing the symptoms and supporting healing.

There are a few simple ways you can begin managing and reducing inflammation:
1. Include anti-inflammatory foods into your diet, such as:

  • Oily fish (sardines, salmon, anchovies)
  • Walnuts, Almonds
  • Flaxseeds
  • Chia seeds
  • Turmeric
  • Green leafy veges

2. Try BePure Three Fish Oil

A powerful omega-3 fish oil supplement, with plenty of DHA and EPA. DHA and EPA are the active omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil and together, they can help reduce inflammation.

3. Manage your stress levels

Our bodies process all forms of stress in the same way—whether it is real or perceived. While we can't avoid every stressful situation, we can actively work towards balancing stress levels by incorporating relaxing, calming activities such as yoga, leisurely walks, or a few moments of deep breathing to soothe our nervous system.
