Feeling rotten and facing a wall of bottles?

Feeling rotten and facing a wall of bottles?

You made it to the supplement aisle.
Now you’re staring at vitamin C, zinc, elderberry, probiotics and about thirty other options, wondering what actually belongs in your basket.

We asked Dr Mark Hooper, BePure Product Manager, to cut through the noise.

Start with one or two things

When you’re feeling run-down, Mark’s advice is simple.

Choose a high-strength vitamin C for short-term support, alongside a quality broad-spectrum immune support formula containing ingredients such as beta-glucan, elderberry, vitamins and zinc.

Do you need vitamin C, zinc, vitamin D, elderberry and probiotics?

They all help support your immune system in different ways.

That’s why Mark recommends choosing a good-quality broad-spectrum immune support product to help support your overall immune health.

Turn the bottle over

The front of the pack might look good. The back tells you more.

Mark suggests looking for:

  • Meaningful amounts of key ingredients, such as elderberry, echinacea, beta-glucans and vitamin C.
  • A broad range of support ingredients, rather than relying on one ingredient alone.

Is it too late if you already feel rough?

Not at all.

Taking immune support supplements consistently can help build your defences in advance, but short-term support can still be useful when you’re already feeling run-down.

As Mark explains, “Nutrients get into the body within hours and can deliver immediate support to your immune system.”

Can you overdo it?

Yes.

Some vitamins, including vitamins A, D and certain B vitamins, should not be taken above the recommended amounts on the pack.

Vitamin C can be taken at higher levels, but too much may challenge your digestive system.

Follow the recommended amounts on the label and be careful when combining products with overlapping ingredients.

What’s in Mark’s basket?
