Social connectivity and a sense of belonging is a basic human need for survival.
Being in our homes to stop the spread of Covid-19 has naturally disrupted our social routines, and we might be feeling a little wobbly from experiencing that shift. Here are some ways that the BePure team are staying connected from their bubbles to meet their social needs, and stay happy and healthy.
Beatrice, Eve Wellness General Manager
In my bubble we’ve seen a significant increase in board games. Daily we’ve been listing things we're grateful for, and that are bringing us contentment to actively nurture a positive outlook. We’re staying active taking walks, and doing yoga at home together.
Outside of my bubble we’ve organised Zoom brunches, wines, dinners and cups of teas. We’ve been doing the same live or online class as friends at the same time and then discussing/hanging after via Zoom. I’ve been calling my grandparents, and also challenging my parents to converse exclusively in memojis. Having Moon night with the gals, pulling cards and chatting about intentions related to the current phase on the moon. Lockdown is about the same length as one lunar cycle!
Georgia, Nutritional Health Support
I've started daily gratitude in my family group chat and my friend group chat—each morning we all comment something we're feeling grateful for which is a lush way to start and spread positive conversation.
We also did brunch through Zoom where we cooked our own brunch then all ate together via laptops!
Sarah, BePure Holistic Health Consultant
In my bubble we’ve been cooking meals to a theme. I’ve been creating a morning routine with my sister—meditation followed by yoga together each morning. We meet for lunchtime to discuss our mornings’ work, and we like to get out in the sun as much as possible to support to support boosting that immune-nourishing vit D.
Out of bubble I’ve had a lot of Facetime chatting with friends, and lunch dates with my work pals for gratitude hour.
Laura, BePure Growth Manager
We have flat-family dinner together and discuss our daily highs, lows, and learnings.
Out of the bubble we’ve started a 21-day challenge in which we get points for sharing what we’re cooking, exercises we’re doing, and other various wellness-supporting activities we want to keep on top of. We even had a Quiz Night with 11 other bubbles via Google hangouts!
Kaye, BePure Warehouse Manager
In my bubble I have gone back to do some of the things I thought I no longer had time for, like knitting, puzzles—including one of London seeing as I had to cancel my trip there in May! I watched a movie with my son and grandson—Paddington Bear 2, the London theme continues…
Out of my bubble, I’ve been leaving tea on my Mum's doorstep, knocking on the door, waiting in her carport to have a chat. She lives next door, but is on her own through this. Calling my brothers and talking more. Face-timed my cousins in England for the first time, even though we have been on Facebook for a while.
Rose, Social Media & Content Strategist
In the bubble, my brother and I are doing a workout together in the mornings. As a family we all have coffee and tea together for morning tea and play cards. In the evening we have a family dinner, and a few times a week we’ll watch a cute family movie together (Toy Story, Onward, Forrest Gump so far). I’ve also enjoyed walks with my mum and my brothers, and Dad pulled out Risk which was a fun afternoon spent!
Out of the bubble I've been calling my grandma on the phone every few days. We've been helping our elderly neighbour with chores in her garden—she calls us and tells us what to do and we do it.
My husband who is currently overseas and I have been having virtual dates where we will make the same meal—lunch for me, dinner for him—and eat it together. I've also been chatting with my friends in House Party for afternoon drinks and chats.
Gemma, BePure Product & Customer Manager
Outside of my bubble, we’ve been sending through old photos that have captured funny/happy/crazy/memorable moments on group chats or to friends to reminisce about those times and have a laugh. I’ve been video calling nieces/nephews and reading them books, and drawing with them.
Erin, Accounts Assistant
I’ve been having lots of video calls to my family members in China. We share photos of food, cats, and flowers. I have been chatting with my friends who recently came out of lockdown a few days ago, and they’ve given me useful “bubble tips” as they’re experts at bubble living now!
